1. One of the big cities in Ukraine is Zaporizhzhia, at the past well-known as Alexandrovsk. 

2. It is situated on the Dnipro river, in south-eastern Ukraine.

3. Its population is about 731,922 (2020).

4. Zaporizhzhia is known for its island of Khortytsia and Dnieper Hydroelectric Station. It is also an important industrial centre producing steel, aluminium, aircraft engines, automobiles, transformers for substations, and other heavy industry goods.
